Uganda Projects
This initiative supports orphans and vulnerable children in Gulu and Amuru districts by covering their school fees and providing scholastic materials. Launched in 2002, the project collaborates with local authorities and school leaders to identify and assess the needs of children, who are then sponsored by donors primarily from the USA and Italy. Over 1,000 children have benefited, many of whom have graduated and are now contributing to their communities.
Project Services:
Started with support from the Rotary Club to enhance economic empowerment in Atiak sub-county, this project engages community members who form Village Savings and Loan’s Associations (VSLAs). These groups perform table banking activities, allowing members to save, borrow, and repay loans at rates far more favorable than those offered by banks. Since its inception post-COVID-19 lockdown in 2022, the project has supported 20 groups, disbursing about $25,000 in revolving funds.
